In the summer of 2011, members of CJSR’s environmental news program Terra Informa set out on a journey to follow the path of the proposed Northern Gateway from its starting point in Edmonton to its terminus in Kitimat, on the coast of British Columbia.
At the time, discussion around the potential benefits and drawbacks of constructing the Northern Gateway Pipeline were in full force. But the producers at Terra Informa, realized that there was a voice that was missing from the conversation: the voices of those people on the ground in the communities that would be most affected by the pipeline. So they endeavoured to collect those voices. The result was a this compelling radio documentary that they called ‘Rough Waters and Divided Valleys: Voices from the route of the Northern Gateway Pipeline.’
